T
he latest addition to British shipyard Sunseeker’s
Sport Yacht range, now featuring five models bet-
ween 80 and 130 feet, delivers exclusivity and sportiness
in equal measures. Capable of reaching 44 knots and
running either conventional shaft or Arnesson surface
drives, she is geared towards owners seeking not just the
peace-of-mind and comfortable cruising of a 24-metre
yacht, but also excellent handling.
Instantly recognisable thanks to her angled hullside
windows, superstructure glazing and flybridge over-
hang, her appearance leaves no doubt over her sporting
prowess.
However, besides her potential as a performance crui-
ser, the smallest of this range – remember that Sunsee-
ker offers five other series: Yacht, Predator, Manhattan,
San Remo and Portofino – reflects the designers’ deter-
mination not to eschew a single aspect of a superyacht
designed for relaxing holidays onboard, swift crossings
fromA to B and optimum comfort for owner and guests.
Interior
With a simple glance inside it is crystal clear that the
Sunseeker 80 Sport Yacht offers all of this in luxury su-
rroundings where quality and style blend harmoniously
together without garishness or extravagance. Soft, light
accents abound in the textiles and leathers used on the
furniture, whilst contrasting with darker structural ele-
ments and, in turn, accentuating the oodles of natural
light flooding through the large side windows.
The result is a serene and refined ambience that invi-
tes relaxation and quiet conversation.
The lack of structural dividers inside the main deck
space significantly helps foster this sensation. Without
visual barriers, the interior takes on a unique feel whilst
also integrating the exterior, thus giving a full view of
the seascape. Take for example the practical aft cockpit,
with its dining table and chairs, and how it seamlessly
flows into the saloon through a glass door, which even
when closed gives a feeling of airiness and harmony.
This deck is used exclusively as salon-dining area with
the two-man helm station placed forward, whilst the ga-
lley and dinette are moved to the lower deck, meaning
that space is fully optimised. An electrically-operated
pantograph door allows movement from the helm sta-
tion along both sides.
In the night-time area, the design offers either a
three- or four-cabin layout, but always with a full-beam
owner’s suite midships. All cabins boast TV, audio sys-
tem and private telephone. Should the owner decide just
for a galley, guests are accommodated in three double
cabins, with the VIP forward and the other two – one
with twin beds and the other with a double – on each
side. If a dinette with L-shaped sofa is desired in this
space, then one of the guest cabins will have to be re-
nounced. Comfort and space may this way be gained,
but overnight accommodation is lost.
The aft port section of this yacht boasts an ensuite
crew cabin with twin bunks.
Exterior
The Sunseeker 80 was conceived as a performance cruiser
and the design certainly doesn’t neglect exterior spaces,
which are bestowed with a host of features encouraging
outdoor life both whilst underway and at anchor. So be-
sides the aft cockpit, which leads down to the hydraulic
bathing platform, the Sunseeker 80 provides a further
sunbathing area forward, sporting a spacious sunpad and
semicircular sofa around a coffee table for guests to sit
back and relax whilst at sea. What’s more, the flybrid-
ge provides a dedicated daytime area with a huge sofa
around extendable tables and opposite a wet bar and grill
for preparing light snacks or barbecues. Meanwhile, the
second helm station, with a seat for the pilot and one
passenger, occupies the starboard side of the flybridge.
Engines and systems
The Sunseeker 80 can be fitted with twin engines de-
livering up to 2,640hp and comes with a bow thruster
and hydraulic stabilisers. The fully-soundproofed engi-
ne room, located in the aft third of the boat, houses all
the electrical and hydraulic systems and units, as well
as the controls for the air-con system, generators, filters,
water separators, silencers and water makers. From the
helm station, fitted with a double multifunctional ra-
dar plotter, the captain can comfortably control all the
necessary onboard systems from an elegant dark leather-
trimmed console panel.
Sunseeker’s vast experience in the construction of
luxury yachts up to 47 metres in length guarantees
that nothing escapes its in-house engineering experts
and that all systems and components are hand-picked
and installed to satisfy even the most demanding owner
whilst guaranteeing guests’ safety and comfort on board.
