easuring 37 metres, the 122 Mythos marks a
turning point in the history of a shipyard which,
having created such emblematic classics as the Aqua-
riva or the Rivarama, is constantly evolving both in
terms of construction and technology. Italian brand
Riva is now building bigger models and diversifying
ranges to mould to its clients’ needs, and the current
fleet boasts 12 different models between 22 and 122
feet in a whole range of styles.
The 122 Mythos draws inspiration from the 86-foot
Domino, a best-seller in the Riva Coupé range, and
arises from a partnership between Mauro Micheli from
Officina Italiana Design, the firm that designs the en-
tire Riva range, and AYT&D (Advanced Yacht Tech-
nology), Ferretti Group’s research and product develo-
pment centre.
Main deck interiors
The 122 Mythos comes in an optional three-stateroom
version, chosen by the owner for this first unit, where
emphasis is placed on space and privacy. However, the
standard shipyard model has four staterooms and there
is also the option of a five-cabin layout.
Large uninterrupted windows run along the entire
main deck offering breathtaking panoramic views and
allowing plenty of light into the daytime area.
The salon and dining area have been conceived as an
open-plan space, with the living section boasting three
white leather sofas and two armchairs in a contrasting
brown leather. The 55” TV, which can be completely
concealed in the ceiling, drops down just beside a glass
door as you enter from the cockpit.
The dining area is furnished with a large steel and
glass table with ten chairs. On both port and starboard
sides there are two doors: the right-hand one leads to
the lobby with a day head, whilst the left-hand one
opens into a spacious full-beam galley. Thanks to the
dinette here, featuring a table for five to six people,
this area can be enjoyed throughout the day and when
underway.
Lower deck
On this first Riva 122 Mythos, the layout is conditio-
ned by the owner’s decision to have a spacious master
stateroom and just two guest cabins, with the crew
quarters – consisting of an ensuite captain’s cabin and
two twin crew cabins – being located forward.
The full-beam master stateroom features a small li-
ving area to port with a couple of leather armchairs and
a coffee table, and an office area to starboard with a lea-
ther-trimmed desk and cabinets, all below the spacious
side windows. The ensuite is divided into four diffe-
rent spaces: a separate bathroom and head area to port,
two white marble washbasins in the central part of the
room, and the shower box and sauna to starboard.
The VIP staterooms have been styled to match the
master suite, with both also featuring separate head
and shower areas.
Outdoor areas and flybridge
The outdoor areas of the Riva 122 Mythos are stri-
king for their spaciousness and functional layout. The
stern cockpit, for instance, boasts two large L-shaped
sunpads to each side, coffee tables and a 10-seater table
for alfresco dining.
From here, access can be gained down to the elec-
trohydraulic aft bathing platform, which separates the
two garage doors. The garage itself can house a five-
metre-plus tender and a jet ski.
Also on this deck is a large cabinet for preparing
snacks or light meals whilst at anchor.
Designed to offer unmatched comfort, the flybridge
features the second helm station and a jacuzzi flanked
by an aft sunbathing area and a bar unit to the bow. In
front of the bar is another spacious aft-facing sunpad
for out-and-out relaxation.
A further sunbathing area is placed at the bow with
beds and a table set in the superstructure recess.
Technology and performance
The all-aluminium warped planing hull with 12º dea-
drise and spray rails can reach a top speed of 28.5 knots
and comfortably top 26 knots when cruising thanks to
twin MTU 12V 4000 M 93L 3510hp engines. This
engine set-up also provides the 122 Mythos with a
range of 360 miles at top speed, 440 miles at cruising
speed and up to 1,100 miles at eleven knots, which is
considered the long-distance cruising speed. The shaft-
drive propulsion system is fitted with a high-tech elas-
tic-free standing gearbox to ensure noise and vibration
reduction. The 122 Mythos boasts RINA Green Plus
Yacht certification, which assesses the vessel’s carbon
footprint, including CO² emissions during the cons-
truction process.
