Ferretti Yachts 960
Myriad of light
This is the largest planing yacht ever produced
by Italian shipyard Ferretti Yachts. Almost 100
feet long, she boasts a sporty profile and delivers
top-of-the-range performance, as well as being
the first Ferretti to place the owner’s suite on the
main deck.

T
he brand new Ferretti Yachts 960 is in keeping
with this shipyard’s conceptual evolution over the
past few years. This model, developed by the yard’s in-
house design and engineering team Ferretti Group En-
gineering, the group’s research centre AYTD (Advanced
Yachts Technology & Design) and Studio Zuccon Inter-
national
Project, the aesthetic soul of practically all recent Fe-
rretti Group designs, is the first materialisation of this
shift.
With an LOA of 29.20 metres and a 23.98-metre hull,
she will be able to be navigated without the need of a
professional captain once the new PER and Patrón de
Yate qualifications come into force, allowing skippers
with these Spanish licences to handle yachts up to 24
metres in the Balearic Islands and the entire Mediterra-
nean respectively.
As well as being the first planing Ferretti Yacht to pla-
ce the owner’s suite on the main deck, this model débuts
a guest accommodation layout of four double staterooms
– all equally sized and with beds placed perpendicularly
to the centreline – on the lower deck.
This layout, which can be modified and adapted to
each owner’s specific needs as well, also features three
crew cabins located forward with private access to the
galley, a common solution in superyachts to guarantee
owner and guest privacy. Another innovative characte-
ristic is the aft garage and its door that converts into a
sun lounge, which when lowered allows the garage to
partially flood and therefore let the tender slide in and
out without the need for a davit.
Fresh design
The yacht’s most characteristic exterior feature is the
superstructure glazing extending along the entire main
deck, cutting it from stern to bow and resulting in a
much lighter profile, sporty features and interior bright-
ness.
A detail which may seem insignificant, but is defini-
tely not, is the low midships gunwale on both sides of
the vessel, which makes the boat’s profile even lighter.
What’s more, the decision to include a raised helm sta-
tion helps maximise indoor space in the central section
of the main deck.
Below deck, the four large windows set in the hull at
the height of the guest cabins let through plenty of light
and also form a unique outer feature.
Multi-purpose aft area
One of the main innovations is to be found in the aft
area. The garage door is fitted with pistons which raise
it whilst the central part of the bathing platform lowers
to various depths, thus easing the launch and haul of the
tender or water toys. Once the door is opened, the pla-
tform can be lowered, allowing to flood part of the garage
and let the tender smoothly slide into the water using
only a winch, with no need for a davit.
The engine room is accessed from astern, through a
watertight door located under the left steps leading to
the swimming platform, which is lifted to leave the door
disclosed. Above, the cockpit is furnished with a large C-
shaped sofa and a dining table seating up to eight people.
Salon with views
A glazed door, electrically driven as required by the ow-
ner, grants access to the main deck interiors, which feature
an ample-sized open salon divided into living and dining
areas. Natural oak has been used for all furniture and fur-
nishings, with details such as retro backlit window frames
and floating shelves above the cabinets in walnut-stained
oak. The interiors afford spectacular sea views thanks to
the uninterrupted glazing and the lowered gunwale. On
the starboard side, there is a bar unit, wine cellar and a
cabinet housing a 55-inch pop-up TV, all opposite a large
Poltrona Frau white sofa and a coffee table.
The central part of the main deck has been designed
as a lobby area. The port side grants access to the galley
and the mezzanine floor, where the raised helm station
can be found. The owner’s suite to aft is totally separa-
ted, both visually and acoustically, from the other cabins.
The vestibule is flanked by wardrobes, hanging space and
drawers, whilst the entire starboard side of the cabin it-
self features a dressing table. A large TV set occupies the
aft bulkhead at the foot of the double bed, which features
a Kvadrat leather and textile headboard. The Antonio
Lupi-designed bathroom, located at the extreme bow, is
on a lower level. The shower box and toilet are divided
from the bathroom by two white Bianchi & Fontana gla-
zed surfaces.
The galley, located to port side and designed by Ernes-
to Meda, can rely on three different entrances: one from
the crew and service area, another directly from the salon,
and the third from the outer walkway to provide service
to the deck areas without having to cross the salon.
